Outside In has always had a committed Board of Directors. However, it wasn’t until the vision of the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund that our board became a fundraising board, working together to successfully diversify our donor base and stabilize our funding.

Our transition from staff-led fundraising to board-led fundraising was inspired the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund’s challenge grant. To increase our private support, we created a membership society in honor of one of our most committed volunteers, Jane Williams. Jane volunteered in our day program well into her 80’s, and was know for being accepting and serious about helping homeless youth transform their lives. The creation of the Jane Williams Donor Society coupled with matching funds generated a 25% increase in the number of major gifts we received.

The Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund has left a lasting legacy at Outside In. The challenge grant energized our Board, and today, they are our most effective advocates and solicitors.
